When to sow grass seed ???

Hi ,

Have a flowerbed which we have cleared and flattened. We want to grass it ,cheaply. I guess grass seed will be the cheapest but when is it best to sow it ?

In a word...now! As the days get warmer and drier, make sure you keep the new grass watered.

My local Homebase has turf for £1.50 a piece, it might be cheaper than grass seed.

That sounds like a good deal......Do you know how big a piece is ?

If your ground is soggy or at risk of a hard frost over the next month or so hold off, if not then now's OK but if it's not warm enough to germinate seeds, the birds will get them first.
