Should I pay estate agent fees?

Hi,
After having our house on the market for a year, I have decided to put an offer in myself to buy out my ex husband (he wouldn't accept it unless I made an offer) will I still have to pay Estate agent fees or will they just withdraw it from the market?

See what your contract says, but presumably your ex also agreed to put the house on the market, therefore the estate agent didn't introduce him...
But if your offer is made through the EA (why on earth do you need to make an official offer to buy him out??) then you might need to pay fees. I'd say that he should pay the fees if he won't just sell it to you privately!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')

If you buy him out, you'll need a solicitor to do the transfer of equity. Why not get the solicitor now and ask them to write to your husband offering him a settlement based on a transfer of equity, on the understanding he withdraws the property from the market?I am a mortgage broker.
