Flora Cuisine

I have just bought a bottle of Flora Cuisine, it is a 'oil' for frying, roasting and baking.
It states it is 45% less saturated fat than olive oil. It also states it has little or no spitting or burning when in use.
I am not sure if it is any good or not as not used it yet, but it is currently on an introductory offer of £1 in Tesco. It is in the chiller section, at my local store it was on the end of the milk aisle.

Just a coment but don't think olive oil has much saturated fat - it is high in monounsaturates. Less spitting and burning may just mean it is highly refined.1

I did a product trial for this. So pleased to hear it is in the shops at last. I used it for crumbles, roasting, frying, baking (biscuits etc) I will definitely use this in place of olive oil. It does have to be kept in the fridge unlike oil.1

I've been trying to find out if it's suitable for vegans. Anybody know?
I guess unless it says it on the bottle it'll be a 'no'.1 -

Olive oil also has a high mono-unsaturate content and it is these oleins which are beneficial.
Olive oil has from 7.5% - 20% saturates, however these are plant derived and not as detrimental as animal sources.
If `Cuisine`is almost half that then how much different is it from a high quality Olive oil @approx. £6.99/litre?1 -
I`m still unconvinced by this product. Sunflower oil and rapeseed oil are less than £3 per litre for organic @ Sinsburys, this product is just a blend of these and linseed oil and Salt! etc.
So it looks to me like a costly product at £4/litre so not for us MSE`s!1 -
Ingredients
Vegetable Oils (Sunflower Seed Oil, Rapeseed Oil, Linseed Oil), Water, Salt (0.9%), Emulsifiers (Soy Bean Lecithin, Polysorbate 60), Soy Protein, Stabilisers (Guar and Xanthan Gums), Colour (Beta-Carotene), Preservative (Potassium Sorbate), Citric Acid, Flavourings, Vitamins (A, D).
What the heck? Yum yum, additives galore! All those chemicals, but hey - it has less saturated fat than olive oil, that well-known source of heart attacks!
What is it with the British and their love affair with margarines? Now you can have a liquid margarine in a bottle instead of just using vegetable oil?1 -
I've bought some to try but haven't used it yet. I'm an avid olive oil fan though so may need some convincing1

I bought some to try it, the smell put me off, it was like cooking with flora margarine spread. Vile. The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.1

It's not that they love margarine, it's just that they been brought up having information thrown at them. And now they can't do anything unless "THEY" have said it's Ok.
They are told that fat is bad, and "spreads" have less fat in them, so "spreads" must be better for them.
And as Flora have found out, you can put anything in an oil, but tell people it has less fat and they will buy it. Because they have been told that "less fat is good".1
