No home phone - who has done it?

Reading all of these threads, many people say that phone bills are too high.
I appreciate that this generally relates to Mobile Phones but my mobile is a work phone and as long as I pay for 'personal' calls and texts, that's ok.
My point is that I RARELY use my house phone and pay about £20 a month for that - mainly line rental.
Have many of you cancelled your home phone line and, if so, does it cause problems in other areas of your life?
i.e getting insurance without a land line, etc
Thanks
Steve

Me! I had no trouble getting insurance policies or anything like that, they just use my mobile and other utilties still prove residence etc. I wasn't using it and I have a cheap mobile package with loads of minutes so it's worked out a lot cheaper in the long run.
The only downside is long-distance calls, they're a nightmare if you're using a mobile. And it might impact on your broadband too, do they need an active phone line coming into the house? We don't have internet at home so ti's not an issue...0 -

I'm fortunate that due to 'being on call', my employer pays for my broadband as well (on a different line to my phone)

Hi Steve,
I have never had a home phone line in my flat, I always use my mobile (most I have spent per month is £20 and that was for international calls and texts). I am fortunate that I am allowed to make personal calls from work (and use the internet!).
I don't have internet at home.
People do think I am odd though! I think it's just because it is seen as the norm nowadays, same as people not having a tv I suppose.Saving for an early retirement!0 -

Hello Steve, If it was'nt for the internet i would get rid of my landline like a shot. I am a low phone user. I don,t even use my mobile that much only to text. I think BT would have lost a lot of customers if it was not for the internet explosion.:Amazon No:170

Hiya,
I haven't had a phone line in over a year and I haven't had any problems with insurance or anything else. I cancelled mine becuase a) I always used my mobile and b) my dad would ring it to see if I was really at home or just saying I was at home. Now he just has to take my word for it...sucker!£6,838.71 all on 0% CC, what a change!0 -
If I could get a line from someone else I would ditch BT in a heartbeat.dawn2dusk wrote:Hello Steve, If it was'nt for the internet i would get rid of my landline like a shot. I am a low phone user.
