Has anyone used these? they seem to be quite reasonably priced, but seems to be run like a call centre.....would i be better with a more traditional solicitor or conveyancer, any thoughts?

Well, looking them up on the law society website, they are indeed a solicitors firm with a single office, and they cover a range of topics - not just conveyancing. They also have lexcel accreditation, which is a legal scheme.

There's nothing on their registration which would cause me concern.

But you need to be satisfied about their service - ask whether a single fee earner will deal with your file the whole way through, whether they can be contacted individually by phone & email, ask for a proper quote and check the small print to see whether they add on lots of extras or everything is all included.

A single fee earner is responsible but "most of the work will be done by a team os assistants". It also says that the assistants will deal with any phone calls, email, fax etc and will have to request to speak to the fee earner.

I have a quote which has a fee, possible additional costs (about £400 worth) and disbursements, there is small print saying where a fee is agreed it may be necessary to increase it if the nature of the transaction changes.

The fact it isn't a local firm and doesn't seem to be a qualified conveyancer dealing with it just makes me nervous

    Based in Southport?

I've used them a couple of times and they were pretty good. Didn't have any complaints about charges or service.

On the whole though I do prefer to use a local firm I know and trust to do my own business and I recommend to clients.

you should expect to have the one conveyancing solicitor / conveyancing legal executive start to finish with no one else doing any of the legal work. ay underlings doing it then that is second rate service.

    good luck.
My posts are just my opinions and are not offered as legal advice - though I consider them darn fine opinions none the less.:cool2:

Thats kinda what i was thinking, whats the point paying the same or very slightly less for admin staff to do the same job that i could get a properly quiclified person to do elsewhere.

I'm buying a house for thousands of pounds, by far and away the biggest purchse of my life so far, i'd rather spend slightly more if necessary and get a proper service.

    Thanks
