We've had a Rio for 7 years now, and it's about as reliable as I could wish for - the only time it's failed to start was when my dad left the rear passenger door ajar for about 3 days (ran the battery right down).

The downside is that as has been mentioned it looks dated, and will devalue pretty quickly - but especially with the current warranty it should provide trouble free driving for years.

Bear in mind that there is a new shape Kia Rio coming out in 2012.

It looks like a very nice car indeed:

Hi MDHughes; the Cee'd is a 100% better car than the Rio, and a quick look at Autotrader.co.uk shows nationally many petrol hatchbacks up to one year old in your £9k budget.

There are even 3 diesel SWs (estates) on 09 plates in that budget.

An 09 will still have 5 years of Kia warranty left if that is what your looking for.

    Good luck with the hunting.

As long as it has been serviced to schedule.. ;)

Bear in mind also, that until the start of 2010, the Rio only came with a standard 3 year warranty, from January 2010 it came with a 7 year warranty, so if you decide to buy one, it is far better to get one from that date forward.

Just for the sake of complete clarity, the above post refers to available Cee'd models only and assumes that the car HAS been serviced to schedule.:D

get a quote on how much it will cost to get your Fiesta through it's MOT, may not be as much as you expect...

onto replacing the vehicle, Honda Jazz? people have told me it's the best car they've ever driven...

Golf, Focus, Mazda 3 all been mentioned which i would choose over a Kia, I appreciate owner's opinions that Kia's are good cars, personally I'd never choose one...

Having now owned a Focus I'm not sure I'd have another. Yes they are nice to drive but the quality is grim.

That is probably because you haven't driven one, I had a Kia C'eed out on 3 day trial, I was highly impressed with it, OK the Rio isn't quite as good, but still good value for money.

FYI a Kia Approved Used Cee'd will have 7 years warranty if it is less than 18 months old at time of purchase
