They will probably just have a management buyout and open up in a different name;)

My mother is about to put an offer in on an empty peverell retirement flat in surrey, is that still wise/safe and should she offer a lower price ?
It was going to be tight , but a little extra nest egg could really help her sleep better at night

    any opinions gratefully received

Well, they had a shocking reputation... we're buying a house with two separate garages that are (were) run by Peverel. Heard nothing good about them and wasn't looking forward to having any dealings with them. Doubt our vendors will be happy as they just got charged an extortionate amount of money for a document from them.

Have to be careful here but I know someone who was managed by these guys but they were unable to get any accounts from them for years. Records were lost, bank accounts had dubious amounts taken out of them.

If I were you I'd insist on the exact bank balances of your estate ASAP so you know where you stand.

    they were absolutely awful!!!

From personal experience with Peverel, I'd suggest that she has a long talk with the Residents Manager( not the warden) over how Peverel have dealt with their complaints, sadly it is unlikely to be good news.
