Bank Offer

Options
Hi

My bank have offered me half of the £3,000 I asked for for bank charges. I am unsure as to whether I should pursue this further for the full amount plus interest or accept the offer. Can someone advise on what might be the best option for me. Personally I'm keen to go for the whole amount.

Thanks

  • Its really up to you - you can accept the offer in part payment and advise them you will persue for the rest or accept in full and final settlement.

I accepted the offer my bank made me but it was only £100 short of what I was claiming, my partner who I am assisting at the moment is £1300 short this is a big difference so we are going for the full amount and if it gets to MCOL the interest also, but that is our choice.
The chances are you would get the full amount - I guess it depends if you need the money and how quick.
Any spelling mistakes are entirely on purpose to check you're paying attention :p

Its entirely up to yourself if you want to accept this as full & final offer.

If you still want to go for the remainder, you should send them this letter (altering it to your circumstances)

then just go ahed with the next step after 14 days from your last step (hope that makes sense)

    Response to settlement offer.

    Dear [named sender or Sirs]

Thank you for your letter dated xx/xx/xx
I respectfully decline your offer of settlement and request, once again, that you return to me all charges imposed on this account, totalling £xxxx

I will accept the sum offered only as part settlement and on the clear understanding that I will pursue recovery of the remainder, with a County Court claim if necessary.

My letter before action sent previously indicates that you have until xx/xx/xx to respond before Court action commences. You are reminded that there will be no extension to this timescale.

I trust this clarifies my position.

    Yours faithfully
