yahoo problems with headset in conference calls

basically there are a load of us that go on yahoo so decided to get a mike.
had a prob with corrupt sound c\ard driver or summat like deleted n reinstalled and now shows now error in device manager properties
now it will let me voice record clips on msn and yahoo and hear them normally but the calls in yahoo dont ring either end and in conference it says you computer doesnt support the audio compression.
ive picjked their brains and everyone is confused so thought id post here see if anyone can help
