Hi
I have a Suzuki Grand Vitara SWB 1600VVT on a 52 plate.

has anyone any idea about the costs of:
• Replacing front diff axle with used parts
• Labour time & costs to do it?

Also when put into FWD is the light red or green?

A couple of hours labour at the most. As well as the cost of the axle, budget for U bolts, track rod ends and tracking.

If you mean by FWD- 4 wheel drive- the light on mine glows green.

Thanks, can anyone also tell me what tools and equipment are required to change the front diff axle?
If you can be as specific as possible it will be very much appreciated.

A good set of jacks and axle stands, Something that will actually jack the body high enough for
the wheels to leave the ground, Which the small cheapy jacks wont on a vitara.

A good quality socket set not a £10 cheapy job that will snap the 1st time you use it. Set of spanners
also for those hard to reach nuts & bolts. Same again a quality one not a cheap poorly fitting set that
rounds the nuts off. Torque wrench.

Selection of breaker bars, levers and ball joint splitters.

If your undoing brake lines you will also need a bleeding kit.

If you have never done it before dont forget a haynes manual and plenty of WD40 on all the
nuts and bolts a day or so before you start.

If you dont have the tools already it will be cheaper to pay a garage to do the work, The tools will
cost more than the labour involved.

Charging someone £10 or £20 to do a job when the special tool costs £60 was a downside to being a
    mechanic for friends & family.
