I have a samsung r580 laptop. I am thinking of changing and upgrading my tv. Can i plug my laptop into the TV and use the tv screen as the laptop screen?

I guess i need leads? How much? Is it fiddly? Do all modern tv's now have this facility? Thanks.

You would need an HDMI lead, they cost peanuts off Ebay. All new HD TVs come with HDMI connections. Check the laptop specs to be sure.

You can if you want, and you have the choice of connecting via VGA or HDMI (HDMI is preferred).
The above assumes your new television will have either VGA or HDMI inputs available.

    Yup

All depends on what you buy, and where you buy it from.
As an example for you, I have just paid £4.50 for a 10 metre HDMI lead from Amazon which works perfectly.

No more fiddly than plugging your hoover in to a socket

I would expect any new TV to have at least an HDMI input, but not all of them will offer VGA as an input (not that you want it anyway as you have an HDMI output on your laptop).
