in Credit cards
Wanting to start reducing the number of cards I have for stoozing purposes to keep my credit rating ok I emailed egg to cancel my card (well out of the 0% deal) Just had a call from a very nice egg man to say I could take 5 months at 0% on both BTs and purchase and SBTs every year as an existing customer.
Do they tell everyone that or only those going to cancel? Worth a go for anybody with a balance outstanding on Egg me thinks

This just sounds like the anniversary offer, and as far as I know it does not include purchases. I would just double check this to make sure before spending on it.
The anniversary offer is basically that any balance transfers you make during your anniversary month only, are at 0% for five months. Do make sure the card is clear before doing any balance transfer as payments made to the account are taken off the 0% balance first and any outstanding purchases continuing accruing interest at the standard rate, without reducing.0 -
Thanks for that Margerat. He is sending me some stuff through the post so that should make sure its clarified0

Does anyone know the definition of the Egg anniversary offer for 0% balance transfers? I got my offer letter/acceptance from them last year on the last day of the month so obviously couldn't make my transfer until the following month. Now I don't know which month counts as my 'anniversary' month. Am I missing something? It must be clear to somone though I've read everything I've been sent and it's not clear to me. Don't want to make an expensive mistake!Retired and debt free at last0

You can log into your EGG account and send them a a secure message. They will reply within about 24 hrs and let you know the date of the offer.0

I assume you have another super balance transfer card to use if you were going to close the Egg card account?0

This is my first toe dip in stoozing so thought I would just run one for now till I get the hang. Wanted to close down a few (I have built up quite a collection) in case it started to affect my rating which at the moment is really good.
BTW does anyone know the success rate of closing an account and reapplying at a later date (Im thinking 9 months!)0 -
I'd keep the Egg card - it allows SBT at no charge and can be used as a conduit for other non-SBT transfers to your bank account.
On top of this, it also has the 0% anniversary offer, and you should be able to 'work' the credit limit up to £15,000 over time by asking for incremental increases online...0 -
Don't want to hijack Nelski's post, but I have just got my new egg card with 7.5K balance. How long do I need to wait before requesting an increase in credit limit?0
