Thinking of switching to Primus from BT??

Hi,

I am new to the forums but I am currently thinking about changing my home phone provider as BT's prices are just becoming ridiculous . I am currently paying about £13.00 for line rental and free evening and weekend calls, I have seen the offer for Primus for the same thing but for £7.99. Does anybody have any experience of Primus and the switching over that is required? My contract with BT ends on 1st April therefore need to cancel soon, would I be able to sign up with Primus to start my contract with them on the 1st of April or does it not work like that.. slightly confused :(.

I switched to Primus for the same reason.I switched while my line was cut off thanks to BT's !!!! up's so I couldn't make or revieve calls but the was dial tone.

I was live on the due date,27th January with no problems. However their billing is a bit iffy.I have only today been able to log onto my Primus account, only to see I have been billed for £19 instead of £12 odd. That included £5 worth of calls.I am hoping the other £7 is for next months line rental so I have e-mailed them.

Stuff like calls & vat are broke down on the bill but future charges aren't.

A quick search for Primus on this forum will reveal all manner of misery.

However if you still want to switch and get the £7.99 make sure you cancel all extra features with BT before you switch (e.g. CallerID CallDivert etc).

When switching Primus will keep whatever features you currently have and as they charge for CallerID etc you will pay more than the £7.99 price. I had this problem and they took 6 months to sort it out, I was ringing every time a new bill was generated and as their online billing is so vague it's hard to tell exactly how the bill is broken down.

It's meant to be £6.79 per month when the offers are taken into account according to Martins newsletter which I suggest you sign up for. It seemed very attractive but I decided not to bother as there are far too many problems with their service after reading about so many bad experiences of Primus.

    The link from Martins newsletter

This has no inclusive calls but when using the override providers calls cost very little, being only a connection fee.

Fedup of BT's exorbitant prices we've taken the gamble (where's that nervous smiley gone?!?), hopefully using some of the posts on the forum I'll be able to keep on top of any problems.
