Pads and Discs changed - Squealing Noise Lifting Off The Brake??

Chaps,

Pads/Discs were worn according to Toyota so I had them replaced this morning by a local mechanic using genuine parts.

Prior to replacing, there was a squeaking that occurred when lifting the handbrake up and down and pushing down on the brake pedal.

The handbrake noise is still there but now the brakes make a short squal noise when lifting off the brake pedal. Pushing down doesn't produce the noise.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

not fitted with copper grease? some pads have a anti squeel backing pad somedont, pads are usually fitted with a touch of copper grease to stop it, sometimes calipers pistons squeek slighlty and doesnt have any impact on their use it just one of those things.

Noise from inside or outside the car?

Sounds more like the mechanism's operating the brakes to me. The pivot points need lubricating.
Try a spray of WD40 at the top of the brake pedal mechanism, and if it stops the squeak, get the mechanism lubricated with grease.
Same with the handbrake mechanism, on the levers pivot point.
There are other places in the handbrake mechanism that probably need lubrication too, but you should elliminate the lever with the WD40 test.

Can't see the brakes squeaking on pedal 'lift off', it's when pressure is on, that the pads may squeal. The frequency will also change with road speed.
Higher the speed, the higher the frequency etc.

Pads squeal under light pressure. If the pads are binding in the caliper slightly they, or it, could squeal after braking.
