Just to say that Ryanair are now charging £6 per person each way to book, not the £5 as in the Ryanair booking thread.
We thought of getting a prepaid card but for one family flight a year it doesn't seem worth it.

Why isn't it worth it? Even paying a tenner for the Phones4u Escape card, which is the most quickly accessible one, a family of 4 would save nearly £40, according to the charges you quote!0

It is definitely worth it - they are free at FairFX - https://www.fairfx.com. Just get a 10 Euro top-up one, then top it up just before you need to pay for the flights. Or get a GBP one if you don't want to use it abroad. Both will allow you to avoid the booking fee.
Also (check-in) charges are not necessarily £6. Avoid them if you can with £1 sales. If you cannot, then book your return flights separately. Then the check-in fees are just 6 Euro, not £6. Not much of a saving, btu it helps.0 -
I went through the link for the free euro card and it says the minimum deposit is 60 euros??????0

When I looked it cost £9.95 to set up and they charge 1.4%. Plus it can take a month or so to arrive and I needed to book now, may get one for future bookings.
Also just done a booking on Brittany Ferries and they wanted to charge £5 for booking by credit card so changed to paying by debit card but won't have the same level of protection.0
