Unemployment benefit

A friend of mine accepted voluntary redundancy last November. However he is thinking about applying for contribution based unemployment benefit. Hower he has over £16k in savings and an income of £1000 per month from occupational pensions.
Would he be entitled to th unemployed benefit.

He would get his national insurance paid. I doubt he would get anything else based on the figures stated above.0
