When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free :money:

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.:T

Morning everyone :hello: happy Monday :D - was just wondering to myself where some of the regulars have gone over the last month????

Anyway here we are with a brand new day, spring seems to be on its way :j and I am most definately up for the working week! Who is with me? Stop being on call today so will be treating myself to a couple of glasses of wine tonight

Today:
  • check banking
  • soup for lunch, fruit for snacks
  • Try for a NSD
  • send in on call claim sheet
  • drive carefully to & from work
  • dinner from stores - find out if ds is at home or not as this will influence what we have....
  • make apple crumble to use up the apples/might need to freeze some
  • go for my first portuguese lesson with oh's mum
  • go for a run this evening
  • added £4 to my 101 pot
  • check for surveys
phew that is quite a list for a Monday! Hope you are all happy x

Good morning lads and lasses. I'm a regular and I'm here . I almost didn't post today as I'm having a few *issues* at the moment, but when I saw your comment it kicked me into gear!

    List so far then:
    • checked banking - a bit 'touch and go'
    • checked for surveys
    • made a lunch to take to work
    • fed and watered the chickens and asked for at least three eggs today
    I will also:
    • do an hour overtime each side of the working day
    • charge mobile at work
    • phone HMRC re tax rebate again!
    • pay Council Tax bill
    • go for half hour walk at lunch time -opposite direction to shops
    • work for other half hour and claim as overtime
    • dinner from stores - the roast I couldn't be bothered to cook yesterday :o
    • get into the sewing room tonight instead of spending the evening on the laptop

    Morning all,

Determined, thanks for starting the thread today

I must be one of the regulars who has been MIA – hubby was on holiday last week, so had a week of lying in and getting to work at 8:30 (start time) rather than 7:45

    Today I have/will
    • Will try for a LSD or NSD if I can walk later
    • Leaving work early this afternoon as I have booked to donate blood – part of 101 challenge
    • Depending on how late I get home might walk to the donation centre (or get the bus if I am too late)
    • Meals from storecupboard
    • Used railpass to get to work
    • Charge phone at work later
    • Read newspaper online
    • Need to check out the freebies and the competition boards
    • Enter comps online
    • Washing on a quick wash 30 degrees
    • Will read the thread tonight when I get home
    • Sort out the pile of material and patterns to make a list of what I want to start making

    Have a great day everyone

Morning all, on train to London for a day of meetings and workshops.

Yesterday was an expensive day, as its youngest son's birthday tomorrow so lots of presents and party food bought, but at least I stayed within the budgeted amount.
Some of you may remember that I was at a funeral last week. My stepmother arranged flowers on behalf of the family, which my sisters and I paid our share of. Unfortunately the florist didn't deliver them until after the funeral, so they weren't seen by the family until they returned home in the evening. After we made a compaint, the florist has refunded our money in full, and sent a free bouquet to my Aunt as an apology. Obviously, I'd have preferred for it not to have happened, but top marks to the florist for her apology.

Was a real struggle to get out of bed this morning. I ended up driving to the station, which was quite hairy as the sun was so bright, I had to stop a couple of times as I just couldn't see a thing. So used petrol but at least parking is free at my local station.

No weight loss to report on the Monday weigh in, but no gain either. Exactly the same as last week!

Stitchy, hope your "issues" aren't too serious.

    Today I have/will
    Check online banking
    Charge phones on the train
    Lunch on expenses
    Free newspapers on the train
    Free coffee at work
    Dinner from stores.

Can't think of anything else. Have a great day everyone
Debt free since December 2015. It can be done

  • Am late turn today for the first time in a long while, need to get back in the habit to work out what to do with myself in the mornings!

    1. check banks
    2. cook chili
    3. take lunch and tea to work
    4. check ebay - all finishing today (31 watchers on one thing, hopefully that will mean a bidding war!)
    5. clean bathroom
    6. drive slowly to work
    7. bring work car home as on call
    8. do on call, earn money!
    9. Most certainly not spend any money!
    10. Love the day!

Have a super MSE day everyone, its Monday, we've got the chance to start the week off as we mean to go on!

    Happy Monday gang!
I am in a fab and sparkly mood, the sun is shining, my cold is clearing and doing this every day is making me feel so much better about cash, I'm now less than 2 weeks from payday and instead of panicking that I'm going to struggle I know how much money I have and how much I need. It's a start, I'm not out of the woods, I still have quite a large chunk of debt to pay off but it feels good to know I'm in charge now, not the other way round.

I should hopefully find out what my "bonus" is going to be this week too. That will all go towards paying off my card, though am contemplating keeping some back, depending on how much it is, for a new coat.

Stitchy, i hope your issues get better
Karb, good news on no weight gain :)
Hugs all round for a happy monday

    Anyway, today I have/will:

    -walked to work
    -will walk home
    -making coffee at work
-ate breakfast (will need to find muesli replacement when we move away from Lidl!)
    -bought lunch to work
-hoping for NSD but may need milk for work, will keep it an LSD if i do need to spend
-going for lunch with a girlfriend who needs cheering up, so may be a slightly bigger spend
-checked onepoll (am now at £30)
    -will check pigsback
-all searches through swagbucks, am nearly at my next $5 payout
-my friend and i will take stock of our stock for craft fair at the start of april tonight, see what else needs making

I think that is all for me today.
    Love all round xxx
