Hey all,
Long time lurker but starting to post a bit now. With a baby on the way (due in May ), I've been starting to take a look at my finances. I have nearly £13k of unsecured debt but have the means to pay at least £1k a month towards this. I've therefore set myself a debt free date of the end of the year. If I can start 2012 with a 7 month old and no unsecured debts I'll be a very happy man.
Anyway, just wanted to say thanks to those of you who don't know it but have inadvertently helped me whilst I read through other threads. I have a closed jar, sold lots of stuff on ebay, completed an SoA and created my own spreadsheet tracking all my financial movements.
Looking forward to picking up on more tips to help me achieve my goal.
Cheers

You have £1k spare at the moment but have you done an SOA for when the baby arrives? Are you still with the baby's mum and if so how will her changed income affect your debt repayments?
Whilst babies can be "cheap" it depends on a lot of things and you need to make sure you have accounted for all of themDFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

Hi there, in the spreadsheet that I've setup I've included baby 'stuff'. The £1k I have at the moment is on top of the minimum payments of my cards/loans. Once they start to get close down, the money used for minimum payments is free'd up to use elsewhere. I'm as prepared as I think I can be!0
