Bathroom Extractor Fan Help

The bathroom extractor fan my builder has fitted doesn't seem very good. I have a bungalow with an internal bathroom and the fan is fitted in the ceiling and ducted through an extension roof using flexible ducting (a run of about 10ft). I don't know if the lack of extraction is due to the fan itself or the ducting.

After having read recommendations for humidistats on here I did ask my builder to install a fan with one but he didn't think it was necessary, not worth the extra money, why was I so fussy?, etc etc.

The fan I have got is no doubt just something cheap. I'm going to ask him to replace it with something much better that will work with a long run of ducting and I'd be grateful for any recommendations or advice.

Thanks for any replies.

Hope

I had the same problem when I fitted an in line fan in the ducting in the ceiling.

I bought a stronger fan to replace the original, and then decided to put the new one in line with the original.

We now have two fans which gives good clearance.
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.

Get a bigger in line fan. Easy to fit. Small slot in ceiling ones are not powerful enough with a shower going.
I save so I can spend.

ive seen two fans in ones with long runs. one fan is half way along the ducting.
a small cheap fan is next to useless in long runs.
    Get some gorm.

For a run that long you will require a centrifugal fan - not axial. If placed inline, it'll be quieter as the fan unit itself will be located up in the loft.

Get the ducting replaced with ridged, flexible kills fan power.
