Replacing conservatory roof with tile roof?

Hi
We have a large conservatory but it is too hot in summer/too cold in winter. We have thought about looking into replacing the roof with tiles so that it becomes a more useable room - has anyone done this? If so, who did you use? We are in Hertfordshire. The conservatory is roughly 22' x 12' - anyone have any idea if we would need need building regs & any idea of cost?
Many thanks.

Hi if your adding all that weight to Upvc frames it wont be able to hold it you would need some kind of brick pillars upvc framing can hold a conservatory roof because there isnt too much weight but if you want a tiled roof your talking well over a tonne with all the rafters and tiles etc.. You would also need building regs as it would be classed as an extension because it has a classic roof structure. The regs did change which if you had 70% or more glass it wouldnt need building regs but depends on your part of the country.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature and avatar. "Cowboys" form an orderly queue here please.................
"Standard-weight concrete roof tiles generally weigh between 9 1/2 and 12 pounds per square foot"
22' X 12' X 10lbs = 1200kg !!!!!!0 -
