went shopping with a friend last night armed with our "DTD list", what an experience it was, completely opposite to my normal shop, hope nobody overheard us " ooh look the baileys has gone upto £19.19 great i'll have 2!!! " Even though i knew my pringles would only cost me 1p really, it nearly killed me leaving my free one on the shelf lol
fingers crossed for my voucher today.:rotfl:

Not eaxctly impressed with this, it's so like Asda's price guarantee, i had 24 odd items that they were supposedly unable to price match even though they were fairly common items such as jam, shower gel, baby wipes etc....

Anyway apparently mine was cheaper as they base it on your overall shop not indivdual items which i stupidly hadn't realised and as nigh on 2/3 of my shopping wasn't matched it kinda it wasn't a true reflective shop....

Think i should starting playing the game like the rest of you are doing, i'm just worried i'll end up with losing money on things that don't get eaten often...

INSTRUCTIONS FOR DOUBLE THE DIFFERENCE: TESCO VS. ASDA - A STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE

Right fellow money savers...there are new people coming across this thread everyday and so long as tesco don't pull the plug, I can see this being at the top of the grabbit forum for a while.

I've noticed that people commonly ask questions about the process, how to check prices etc. So, I thought it would be good to have a step-by-step guide about the DTD process for people who stumble across this thread. I will post this same message every few pages as I realise people can't/won't read every single post. Btw, I'm not having a go or a rant at anyone, I just want people to know the best way to carry out this deal with minimum :( and maximum :D! lol

Before I start: DTD = double the difference SEL = shelf-edge label

GUIDE

Always check the following if you want to bag a DTD deal:

1. Check the Tesco price check website for your item here. Try not to be specific i.e. enter terms like 'salmon' rather than 'john west salmon'.

2. If you spot an item that's considerably cheaper at ASDA on the Tesco price check website, then things are looking good.

3. Now, check to see if your item is on the Tesco grocery website (here) and Asda grocery website (here). Make sure you check that the products are identical AND check that the prices match the ones you found on the Tesco price check website (step 1).

4. Repeat the steps above for any other items you'd like. Once you've got a list of your items.....

5. ...go to tesco and find your items. Check the SEL of all items to see if price, product, quantity, weight all match up with what you're about to buy. Check to see if it all matches on your list. If an item is on offer (e.g. BOGOF, buy 2 for £3 etc.), then make sure you put one item into your trolley!

6. At the checkout, check the price of all your items that scan through; as they may not match the SEL. If you got some items that you know are cheaper at Tesco, then put these through as a seperate transaction. DTD is applied to your basket total.

7. Enter receipt details online (here) and wait! Results should appear within 24 hours.

8. Follow the steps above for DTD heaven!

I'm sure I've forgotten some points so please point them out. I will add them to my next post when a few more pages have been added to this thread!

*Extra info - updated*

karlie88 and fellow money savers' FAQ section lol

Some answers to commonly asked questions:

i have entered my receipt details and it has been more than 36 hours? what do i do?: check your junk mail folder. also, it may be that you typed in an incorrect email address or you submitted the wrong info on your receipt. re-enter your details: 1. if you get 'thank you, we're processing your request etc.' then wait another 36 hours - in this case you, probably entered an incorrect number. 2. you may get a link to your voucher immediately - in this case, you have either entered an incorrect email address or it has landed in your junk mail.

what does n/f stand for?: not found or product is not comparable. i.e. do not buy this item for a DTD deal.

does this offer apply to sainsbury's, waitrose etc.?: no, this is tesco vs. asda.

i have no access to my printer atm, but would like to see the results of my DTD shop. will the link expire if i click on it?: no, click on the first link and it will show you your results. click on 'print voucher' and it will show you the total amount. you can do this as many times as you like; your link won't expire.

does DTD apply to online grocery orders?: yes, BUT it hasn't been reported much on this thread. there are many variables to consider: when your order is picked and completed, unexpected substitutions, handing your voucher to the delivery driver (reports that refunds don't go very well) etc. results are far better if you shop instore.

BOGOF, B1G2F offers....do i get them?: no matter how tempting this may be, only buy the single item! if you do want more than 1, then put them through as seperate transactions.

can i use my DTD voucher to purchase another DTD shop?: yes!

can i use coupons towards my shop? will it affect my DTD payout?: yes coupons can be used. they are calculated as a form of payment. you're dtd will not be affected.

when is the price check website updated?: from what i've seen, it's updated late afternoon/early evening. so if you are worried, it's prob best not to do a shop around those times. EDIT: sometimes it's updated every day, but on other occasions it has not been updated for a few days. a bit of a grey area really.

is there a minimum purchase?: only one item needs to be purchased

will this work in tesco express?: no. it also doesn't work at selected metros. if they have banners up in these stores, then i presume that they're doing the offer??

what is the maximum amount i can get in DTD?: 10 receipt claims can be made each calendar month and £100 per household each calendar months. however, people have been getting more than £100 without any problems atm.

how long is my DTD voucher valid for?: 28 days from issue

can i use my DTD voucher and get a refund on the items that i bought (or vice versa)?: risky business, i personally wouldn't do it. if you return the item, it's usually marked on your receipt; this may go against you if you want to use the whole DTD voucher on your next shop.

ditto here - 2 receipts submitted yesterday - 1 for a normal shop I did at the weekend before I cottoned on to DTD where Ts were 4p cheaper & yesterdays shop where I got things highlighted here - not things I'd usually but but things i will deffo use e.g batteries & lemsip - Thanks to everyone for recommendations:)

Spent £30.36 yesterday and used £5 of vouchers so only used £25.36 in cash & now got £29.72 in vouchers - not a massive 1 like some people but I didn't want to have to fork out a fortune in the 1st place or get stuck with things I didn't want.

I am super happy now :D (simple things please simple minds!)

Can anybody confirm if this has worked on the champagne please? Shopping on my way home from work :D.

Also, if you use a DTD voucher from a previous shop and then enter this receipt under a different mail address, do you think they will pick up on this? ie they will connect the DTD voucher used for payment to a different mail address?

Thank you!

Worked so far:
Pepsi Max
Baileys
Banrock (trying for Wolf Blass today)
Easter chick!
24 pack coke
