Can anyone confirm if i can do this?

Re gift cards, I did it successfully, but it really depends on the store/SA. HTH.

Methinks that Mr T is amending all items liable for DTD BEFORE the issue of today's vouchers.

Not possible I'm afraid! :rotfl: It's the price you paid that counts. So check the SEL price versus the scanned price at the till if poss... if it comes up too cheap just pretend it's the wrong thing and ask them to void it. No problem. :)

"Consumers were guided by a new and anonymous website, pricecheck.logicalinternetsolutions.com,"

    .....organised by ASDA perhaps????
i very much doubt it! Asda would rather have you spending your money in their stores than making tesco's lose money ;)

    Thanks very much

the thing i was getting at though was what if asda then change their prices? or what if tesco don't accept moneysupermarket's comparison?

Well yes, there is that risk, but if that happens then you can return the relevant items to Tesco (they usually won't take fresh/frozen goods but everything else is ok IIRC).

Thank you for your email regarding the recent changes to the Terms and Conditions of our Price Check scheme

The vast majority of our customers who use Price Check find that Tesco is cheaper than Asda. However a very small number of customers have used Price Check just to hunt down products which a competitor has on promotion and to make some money by using our guarantee. As a result we have introduced a cap on the amount you can redeem from the scheme, which is set at £20.

Whilst I appreciate your concerns over this amendment, I am pleased to say it will affect only a small number of customers, as fewer than one in 5,000 have been awarded vouchers over £20. Regrettably we had to set this to avoid manipulation of the scheme by a small number of people.

We introduced the cap yesterday but due to a technical error this was applied historically. We have now been able to resolve this problem, and any customer who submitted a price check before 12 Noon on the 24th March will have their full amount up to £100 honoured. Please be aware that any queries submitted after this time, and going forward, will be capped at £20. Please accept my apologies for any inconvenience this has caused you.

Thank you for bringing this matter to the attention of our Chief Executive’s Office.

Does anybody actually know if Tesco can carry on advertising the fact that they offer double the difference? When in fact they are not offering double the difference? (unless they were only more expensive by £10 or less anyway) Does it constitute as false advertisement? All of the boards and the signs around the store closest to me still had everything up, but n mention of the £20 cap. :o

    How to complain
It is fast, free and easy to complain to the ASA.

The types of complaints we can look into include:
    • Misleading, harmful or offensive advertisements
    • difficulty getting goods or a refund for items bought by mail order or through television shopping channels
    • promotions that are unfairly run or special offers that have left you disappointed
    • unwanted mail from companies sent either by post, e-mail, text message or fax
    • data capture and protection of privacy
    http://www.asa.org.uk/Complaints/How-to-complain.aspx

I suggest a complaint along the lines that Tesco are 'breaking the spirit of the promotion' :rotfl:

Taken from wikipedia, seems like it is though. Naughty Tesco.

False advertising or deceptive advertising is the use of false or misleading statements in advertising. As advertising has the potential to persuade people into commercial transactions that they might otherwise avoid, many governments around the world use regulations to control false, deceptive or misleading advertising. Truth in labeling refers to essentially the same concept, that customers have the right to know what they are buying, and that all necessary information should be on the label.
False advertising, in the most blatant of contexts, is illegal in most countries. However, advertisers still find ways to deceive consumers in ways that are not illegal.

    OMG LOL!!!!

    Quote from article:

According to a red-faced Tesco, hundreds of customers have been claiming money back. In fact, advice on how to take advantage of the offer has appeared on bulletin boards all over the web: one particularly helpful post suggested that if you buy two bottles of Chardonnay, two bottles of Magners Pear Cider, two bottles of Nivea moisturiser, and a pack of cheddar, you could end up getting £41.96 back, as well as scoring yourself from pretty funny looks at the checkout. :rotfl:
