Has anyone experience of using a voucher on a standard online shop?

I have done a couple of wine deals, and have two vouchers for £87 and £91, plus another one from a 'test run' for £10-odd - Because I wasn't sure about using it on Saturday just gone (see below) I now intend to use one of the large ones in March (this coming weekend) and one in April, ergo sticking to the £100 a month rule.

On Saturday, we got a regular shop delivered at home, and as per the instructions, I handed over the £87 one, but the driver looked bemused - he had heard of it, but wasn't sure etc. Given the amount of it, essentially worth £87 to me, and with the receipt attached it was a risk, I decided to just hand him the £10 one this time (with receipt stapled to it), to make sure it does work as intended.

So still waiting for the £10 to be credited back to the account - done it all by the book, but not sure how long to wait before contacting them.

    Any experience?

    I disagree with the £100 comments for the following reasons;

If Tesco want to implement it, then stop issuing legally valid vouchers in excess of this
It is a fair-use policy, not a 'rule'

There is a rule of law that can be thought of in Marks and Spencer terms, they don't have it written down that you can get a full refund for items bought (and not wanted), but it is implicit by the fact that everyone knows the policy, and that M&S keep allowing its use.

The same applies here, Tesco are saying (by allowing it) that it is OK, until such time as we implement this fair-use policy and at that time we will only issue vouchers up to the £100 max.

If they did that, none of us could complain, and we'd shop more carefully. I agree that you can easily get carried away with it, and 6 bottles of Turner rd gives you £68 before you start on normal shopping, so it's not that hard to 'go over' £100.

the best way to do it is to put your dtd items into a seperate shop , so still do your normall shop , and then put wine through seperate, well thats the way ive been doing it without no probs

In tesco yesterday and was looking for Betty Crocker pancake shaker. Found it but no SEL; strange I thought (self scanner confirmed £1.49, so DTD of £1.98 or 32% profit.)

Also there were literally 40 or 50 on the top shelf (still wrapped up and above the display not part of it) with a little sticker on to explain why they were removed from sale, and the reason was 'other'; brilliant, Tesco pull them off the shelves because the price is more than Asda, talk about petty.
I didn't do it, nobody saw me do it, you can't prove a thing! ;)

Agree, but it doesnt help when i am expecting a DTD voucher for about £125 (so I can buy a Kindle....and a razor....and something else for the other £4 !!).

Will they baulk at a voucher over £100; I expect it to be a little more problematic than using it against a normal shop (but I am hard faced enough to stand my ground).

I may post the time and store details in case anyone cares to come watch, should be a laugh. :rotfl:

Just ignore them it's no one elses business why you did what you did, FWIW I am in the same boat 12 miles each way to Tesco so I do few big shops rather than popping in everytime a DTD comes up

Its certainly Tesco's business - and doing this will ensure that staff look very closely at vouchers and more and more of us will get a hard time/abuse/accusations etc when we present much smaller, sensibly sized vouchers. Its one thing to discreetly get around restrictions but rubbing Tesco's nose in it is daft.

Just used my first DTD voucher and it seems the staff have now had some training. Only problem all transactions have to be dealt with by a supervisor who has to take you to customer services. Thats fine but our customer services is also where the lottery tickets, tobacco and newspapers are sold. Sometimes there can be a huge queue and it can take a good 10 minutes, I shall have to choose my time carefully but it seems a waste of the supervisors time!

How annoying that you have to go to CS to redeem your voucher! My local Tesco just puts them through at any till (with the exception of self-service).

Oh sorry - did you not notice the name of this thread? It reads:

    "Tesco price check (prices only)"

Think you need to read back at the content of your own posts before making comments like this

You had to put your shopping through the CS point?
