Does anyone know if you can use the voucher they send to pay for fuel? And also can it be used in more than one transaction ie i got a voucher for £100 can i use £50 in one transaction and the remaining £50 in another? If you could pm me that would be great as I'll lose the reply in this very popular thread.

this is probably the last time i'll be posting these instructions and faqs. i think the majority of people have found this thread and know what they're doing now. it is also becoming more difficult to keep up-to-date with the info due to the large number of posts (62 pages and 70,000+ views in about 4 days is a lot!).

hopefully, it's been helpful - i have certainly noticed that the number of questions being asked has decreased.

i will still be posting deals up as i come across them.

thanks to everyone for their contributions!

INSTRUCTIONS FOR DOUBLE THE DIFFERENCE: TESCO VS. ASDA - A STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE

Right fellow money savers...there are new people coming across this thread everyday and so long as tesco don't pull the plug, I can see this being at the top of the grabbit forum for a while.

I've noticed that people commonly ask questions about the process, how to check prices etc. So, I thought it would be good to have a step-by-step guide about the DTD process for people who stumble across this thread. I will post this same message every few pages as I realise people can't/won't read every single post. Btw, I'm not having a go or a rant at anyone, I just want people to know the best way to carry out this deal with minimum :( and maximum :D! lol

Before I start: DTD = double the difference SEL = shelf-edge label

    GUIDE

Always check the following if you want to bag a DTD deal:

    1. Check the Tesco price check website for your item here. Try not to be specific i.e. enter terms like 'salmon' rather than 'john west salmon'.

    2. If you spot an item that's considerably cheaper at ASDA on the Tesco price check website, then things are looking good.

    3. Now, check to see if your item is on the Tesco grocery website (here) and Asda grocery website (here). Make sure you check that the products are identical AND check that the prices match the ones you found on the Tesco price check website (step 1).

    4. Repeat the steps above for any other items you'd like. Once you've got a list of your items.....

    5. ...go to tesco and find your items. Check the SEL of all items to see if price, product, quantity, weight all match up with what you're about to buy. Check to see if it all matches on your list. If an item is on offer (e.g. BOGOF, buy 2 for £3 etc.), then make sure you put one item into your trolley!

    6. At the checkout, check the price of all your items that scan through; as they may not match the SEL. If you got some items that you know are cheaper at Tesco, then put these through as a seperate transaction. DTD is applied to your basket total.

    7. Enter receipt details online (here) and wait! Results should appear within 24 hours.

    8. Follow the steps above for DTD heaven!

I'm sure I've forgotten some points so please point them out. I will add them to my next post when a few more pages have been added to this thread!

karlie88 and fellow money savers' FAQ section lol

Some answers to commonly asked questions:

i have entered my receipt details and it has been more than 36 hours? what do i do?: check your junk mail folder. also, it may be that you typed in an incorrect email address or you submitted the wrong info on your receipt. re-enter your details: 1. if you get 'thank you, we're processing your request etc.' then wait another 36 hours - in this case you, probably entered an incorrect number. 2. you may get a link to your voucher immediately - in this case, you have either entered an incorrect email address or it has landed in your junk mail.

what does n/f stand for?: not found or product is not comparable. i.e. do not buy this item for a DTD deal.

does this offer apply to sainsbury's, waitrose etc.?: no, this is tesco vs. asda.

i have no access to my printer atm, but would like to see the results of my DTD shop. will the link expire if i click on it?: no, click on the first link and it will show you your results. click on 'print voucher' and it will show you the total amount. you can do this as many times as you like; your link won't expire.

does DTD apply to online grocery orders?: yes, BUT it hasn't been reported much on this thread. there are many variables to consider: when your order is picked and completed, unexpected substitutions, handing your voucher to the delivery driver (reports that refunds don't go very well) etc. results are far better if you shop instore.

BOGOF, B1G2F offers....do i get them?: no matter how tempting this may be, only buy the single item! if you do want more than 1, then put them through as seperate transactions.

can i use my DTD voucher to purchase another DTD shop?: yes!

can i use coupons towards my shop? will it affect my DTD payout?: yes coupons can be used. they are calculated as a form of payment. you're dtd will not be affected.

when is the price check website updated?: from what i've seen, it's updated late afternoon/early evening. so if you are worried, it's prob best not to do a shop around those times. EDIT: sometimes it's updated every day, but on other occasions it has not been updated for a few days. a bit of a grey area really.

is there a minimum purchase?: only one item needs to be purchased

will this work in tesco express?: no. it also doesn't work at selected metros. if they have banners up in these stores, then i presume that they're doing the offer??

what is the maximum amount i can get in DTD?: 10 receipt claims can be made each calendar month and £100 per household each calendar months. however, people have been getting more than £100 without any problems atm.

how long is my DTD voucher valid for?: 28 days from issue

can i use my DTD voucher and get a refund on the items that i bought (or vice versa)?: risky business, i personally wouldn't do it. if you return the item, it's usually marked on your receipt; this may go against you if you want to use the whole DTD voucher on your next shop.

Just to let you know just tried to buy the wolf blass yellow label cabernet sauvignon and chardonnay, both showing as £6 on asda and £9.49 and tesco grocery and price checker websites(checked prices in car park before going in to Mr T)and the SEL in Tesco stated £9.49, however both were scanning at £6.99. Managed to cancel both transactions before they went through.
Just wanted to remind people to also check prices at checkout as well and not to just take the info on tesco and asda websites as a guarantee

My Chardonnay went through at £9.47 at 5pm today - just double checked it though!
Hi, think I have worked this out right, could someone please confirm

    HEIDSEICK DRY MONOPOLE CHAMPAGNE T £28.99 A £19.00

    6 bottles

    T £173.94 - 5% (£8.70) = £165.24
    A £114.00
    Difference = £59.94 x 2 = £119.88

    £165.24 - £119.88 = £45.36

therefore £7.56 for a bottle of Champagne

I have got one bottle of this today to see if they price check it. I see no reason why not. Will let you know :p

I redeemed a £116.96 voucher tonight with no prob at all (got a bit excited on my first shop). Waiting to see what I get back from this but will wait til April to spend the new voucher, whatever it may be.

Huge thanks to all who have contributed xxx
