2 weeks to go and confused

Hi all,

Been made redundant and last day is in a couple of weeks time.
Have been trying to find out what I might be entitled to if i can't find work in time. All the sites seem to do anything but make it clear.
I'm 34 married live in a 2 bed house rented privately with my wife, no kids. OH earns £23k per year I had been on £25K up to now. Neither of us are claiming nor have ever claimed any benefits etc. except JSA for me for about 3 weeks last time i was made redundant, fortunately that time i found work very quick, something looking less likely now. We have little in the way of savings probably about £4k and have debts to the tune of around 7K.

I know i can probably get JSA but can anyone say if i should be entitled to anything else to help with rent etc.

I keep looking but get more confused, having a bad day all toll, heard i didn't get a job that i really wanted and we won the rugby but by playing really badly and getting lucky on the ref decisions.

Advice or support very welcome

Regards

Grumpy Rob

I am not a financial expert, and the post above is merely my opinion.:j

I would think it wise to use the savings to pay off the debts personally.

Since you are married/living together - then you will be due for just 6 months non means-tested benefit - and then nothing at all/big fat zero. You will be told your wife should support you (even if she can't afford to...).

I know....I know...how do they expect peeps to pay bills, etc?:(
