Bernardo Hees, 40, told a group of students in Chicago that “here the food is good and you are known for your good-looking women”.
Comparing the city to his student days at the University of Warwick, where he studied for an MBA, he recalled of his time in England: “The food is terrible and the women are not very attractive."
His gaffe came only six months after taking the helm at the chain, which has 11,500 outlets worldwide, and unsurprisingly were not welcomed in Coventry, where Warwick University is based.
Charli Fritzner, women’s campaigns officer at the University’s student union, said: “If he views women as potential distractions in academia, I wonder how he views them in the workplace?
“It doesn’t make Burger King an attractive employer for women.”

I pulled a Warwick University student back in the day at their Monday evening 'Top Banana' night in the student union.
I can report to Mr Hees that she was a hell of a lot more attractive, fun, and pleasurable than a Burger King meal. She lasted a lot longer too. I was going to add in a comment here about comparing the taste of the two things, but I feel that this would be slightly wrong. But I can tell you that one tasted significantly better than the other.
Not sure this post will still be here next time I log in. Feel free to quote along with a comment about a whooper if you feel inclined.0 -

Yes indeed, a Ratner moment indeed, "everything we sell is crap", cue share price nose dives, whole empire turns to dust over night. Amazing. Who'd've thunk it. Just suddenly, out of nowhere, the top guy destroys the whole thing with just one comment. Wow.0 -
I have no job to lose. Hence I feel totally free to suggest that Mr Hees is a bit of a prat.
Having lived in Chicago for a year, I did not find their girls particularly attractive, nor the food particularly good. Cinnamon with everything means that you never have to have an anaesthetic at the dentist and allows them to put anything else in the other food and you won't taste it.
And never, ever, expect a cup of tea in Chicago if you take milk and no sugar. This is because all their milk contains so much sugar that a small dash of milk is equivalent to about half a spoonfull. I never drank tea for a whole year.0 -
Ratner described some of the products his stores sold as "totally crap" and that others would "last as long as an M&S prawn sandwich" (I'm going from memory here, so I might not have the exact words). Hees isn't slagging off his products here, so I wouldn't really think of it as being Ratner-like.0
