Store cards are covered under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act"The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts."

Thanks for reply, I have checked section 75 and I think I am reading it right in saying that I can use the card company to get a refund. I paid some of the money about £30 by way of money and the rest credit card about £300.
Dose anyone know how I should go about this please.
Also another unit of furniture which was much more expensive was pay by VISA debit card have I got the same cover with that card also.0 -
Have you read MSE's Section 75 Refunds article?0

Why can't you get a refund from wherever you purchased the furniture from? Have they already refused?0

They are still looking into it, they keep sending out their care and repair man but he says nothing is wrong with furnitue which is clearly wrong. Their care and repair person is only one person looking after my post code therefore there is no one to contradict his findings. The last time he called he spent his time reading the store magazine after I said to him that I did not want repairs done. I will not let do any repairs to the furniture as it is new and should not needs repairs.0

Perhaps you need to commission your own inspection?0

@Teajug,
I have just been had a similar problem, in my case it was DFS & Santander.
I had taken out the interest free loan offered by DFS and after they were far from helpful dealing with a problem I had with my suite I contacted the loan company Santander. I was surprised how helpful they were. The procedure in my case was called a 'Chargeback' and as has been posted it comes under section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act.
Call HSBC, who in your case are the finance company, and explain you postion. Under the Act they have a interest/responsibility in the quality/fitness of the goods you have purchased. Once the claim has started there is a good posibility that you will have to have an independent inspection of the goods but I was told I would be able to claim all costs back from DFS.
As in my case, you may also find that once HSBC gets involved the furniture store will suddenly have a change in attitude. Once you have contacted HSBC write to the store and inform them the action that you have taken, this also might change their attitude.
Talk to them.
