Transparent Black Text

I am running Ubuntu, and my Firefox and Chrome browser both have the black text as transparent and show the desktop or windows below it. Also videos in YouTube look awful with black areas in the video as see through also. I think it started when I downloaded an update to Flash, but not certain. Does anyone know what could have happened and how I can fix it?
TIA
