Credit 'Expert' - Experian

I'm looking to see if anyone has had a similar issues with Experian or if anyone has managed to actually get any where with them having complained.

3 weeks ago I went into a car garage and found a car that I wanted.

Having sorted out my part exchange the salesman then ran through a finance deal with their regular finance provider however they came back to say there was no trace of me?

I assured the salesman I would be on the system as I pay two mortagages and was paying a finance deal on my part exchange car.

He then tried a further company and was informed that because I was not on the electoral role I would not get finance with them either. At this stage I knew that I was on the electoral role having been in the property for over 2 years.

After phoning a further company the salesman informed me that he had found a finance company who would do the deal but it would be a higher APR, of which he could sort out by slightly changing the price of my new car and that of my part exchange car. Basically I'd be paying exactly the same per month albeit a higher APR.

I was obvioulsy quite hacked off as I would have prefered the lower APR with these new changes thus giving me an even better deal.

Having bought the car with the higher deal about a week later I recieved a letter from one of the inital finance companines stating they were required by law to inform me their reasons for rejecting me. The letter stated that on the information provided by Experian they could not offer me credit.

I immediately joined Experian and found that I was in their 'excellent' bracket with a top credit score.

When looking at my address I noticed that I was still down at my previous address and was not down on any electoral role.

I contacted Experian to make them aware of this and after 2 days found they had updated my new address and showed me as being on the electoral role.

I again emailed them to ask why my details had not been updated and that because of this I had been rejected for credit resulting in me getting a deal that over the course of the agreement had cost me more money than what should have been available to me.

Experian responded my saying that these deatils were ALWAYS on my account and that the finance company hadn't searched my record properly! LIES.

I can confirm 100% that these details were not on however having emailed them again I have been sent a further template email back that refuses to answer my questions/concerns or take any responsibility.

What has now enraged me is because 3 companies have carried out a search of me, on my credit file, my rating has now dropped from Excellent to Fair! Albeit all that has happened is I've part exchanged my car for a new one.

Does anyone know if Experian are at all liable for the information they hold or how I could progress this.

May I also send this as a warning to other persons who may find themselves in a similar situation.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
