I know the Grabbit is gone but I have a question for anyone who purchased the Breville VKJ528 kettle (not the Red one). I recently received one as a gift and fired her up yesterday for the first time. On the first couple of boils there was strange smoke coming from what seemed to be the base. Hubby thought maybe it was just glue melting with the heat so we kept emptying, refilling and boiling throughout the afternoon. Unfortunately after quite a few cycles of this, there is still a strong plastic smell coming from inside the kettle to the point that even the steam smells funny.

Has anyone else had this problem? I did Google it but could find nothing on the specific model of kettle we have but other with a smaller version of the same kettle have had similar smell/taste issues.
