Sorry to sound thick but clarify "store specific"? and I find it hard to swallow that a bog standard store manager can have a markdown of 70 per cent!! Surely that if you are charged for the same product under the same banner and there is a 70 per cent price difference. Even if the store is located in London...is this what they mean by the rich getting more rich? There's nothing in law that says items can't be cheaper in certain stores. It'll be store specific and at mgr's discretion, luckily we have a very slow Sainsbury's I guess.
You also need to be there early doors0 -
Sainsbury's Forestside in Belfast, FYI: some electricals half-price, but they have been for weeks now, mostly Breville toasters and kettles (they are nice though!), and pots and pans at half price too- no food processors. Some lovely hard-ionised pans going half-price which really tempted me. Also a few "bed-in-a-bag" sets at 70% off, very few doubles, mostly king size and single. That's what I can remember from a busy shopping trip this afternoon!0

It means that each individual mgr has his list of stock out back and the authority to discount certain lines by 70% to get them shifted - but only in his store. In my Sainsbury's in addition to the items above I have also grabbed 70% off:
set of 4 hard anodised saucepans
garlic press
apple corer
hard anodised frying pan
porcelain bowls & plates
but missed out on
hard anodised wok
hard anodised stock pot
plus there have been lots I wasn't interested in such as teatowels, salt & pepper sets, knife sets etc.
Also loads of bedding.
You have to be there early to stand a chance.0 -
Fair play to store managers having the authority to mark down stock that they cannot shift as well as end of lines etc. but marking down your mainline stock eg. the only kenwood food processors you stock then expect me to pay full price when you enjoy the luxury of living either in London or close to a major city. Great you got the deal and sounds like sour grapes on my part but just cant understand how that can be legal or am i just missing the point. Put it this way...if i bought the same car as you and there was a 70 per cent mark down on mine and we bought the same make of car and spec but the dealerships had a difference of miles. Im sure that you would either be on the phone or down demanding the same mark down or some sort of discount???It means that each individual mgr has his list of stock out back and the authority to discount certain lines by 70% to get them shifted - but only in his store. tammajock,
The lines are obviously clearance/old lines. If store X has 50 in stock and has to clear them by Friday they are going to offer a better discount that store Y that has 1.
Its the same reasoning as when they reduce meat because of best before dates. Do you complain that other stores get better discounts?⚠ 2014 - COUNTDOWN TO INDEPENDENCE ⚠0 -
This morning they still had 70% off juicers, electric carving knife, Tefal 28cm fry pan and a few more.
Nothing for me, waiting for those hard anodised pans to come up again.0 -
Sorry friend but these processors and kenwood mini choppers etc are mainline items eg. the only processors they stock. Take into account that they are Kenwood as well, its not as if its the cheapest make is it? If there was an alternative make competing against each other that they stock then fair dues but this is not the case. Tefal , Kenwood...makes which shouldnt have a difference of 70 per cent especially as its sold by the same supermarket irrespective of localeCynicalScotsman wrote: »tammajock,

Still plenty of 70% offs in our store.
Picked up 2 hard anodised roasters and another very heavy duty roaster.
Plus a hard anodised milk pan.
They also had various other fry pan/ saucepans and a few crockery sets, same markdown.
Going back tomorrow morning 7.30am to see if the wok comes into stock0 -
