Ford Direct Cars-RAC inspection

Agreed with a dealer to part exhange my car for a Ford Direct car displayed on line. The agreement was that I put down a deposist of £250 and a signed an agreement. The car arrived this week and although the RAC inspection sheet stipulates the car has met their requirements including valeting; the driver and passenger seats are stained .The dealer will valet the car again but I cannot see what the dealer can do differently.

I spoken to the salesman idenfying the problem and confirmed by email that the stains must be removed otherwise I will not accept the car and will not proceed with the deal. I am amazed that the RAC have passed this car and Ford Direct are sending cars out to dealerships in this condtion

Anyone had a simlar problem was it was resolved and if not what was the outcome. If I decide that I am unhappy with the car and do not proceed with the purchase am I entitled to get my deposit back since the consumer direct site stipulates that on inspecting the goods that if you are not satisfied and its within the 7 day cooling off period, you can get your money back even if you change your mind.

Many Thanks for your responses

Isn't Ford Direct stuff all ex-hire rubbish?

And I'd think if you placed a deposit over the phone without seeing the car then you'd be covered by the distance selling regulations, yes.

Yes the cars are ex company / hire cars but not rubbish!!
Why not upon viewing the car, ask who the previous owner was (it shows up on their lists). Mine was ex company thus been one owner, rather then being an ex hire car.

I got a focus from ford direct last year, no problems at all. Just upon collection if the car has had its 1st service already ENSURE THE PAINTWORK WARRANTY HAS BEEN STAMPED.

Otherwise if you have problems down the line you wont be covered.

BTW my focus was 1 yr old with 12k on the clock, no problems at all

Indeed, and it will not be recorded as belonging to the AA Driving School, it will be registered to some obscure company name.
