Do your own..then you will know that its been changed and whats been used.
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

Any garage I've ever used (main dealer) gave me a full invoice detailing the oil etc in full. My last car also had a section for them to fill in the oil type used when completing the service record in the book.

  • It doesn't have to be the same oil, just to the manufacturers approved spec.

I don't do my own oil changes, but I do buy the oil and filter and get my local garage to change it, I wait and watch while he does it so that I know he has used my good quality oil and filter.

No dirty oil/filter to dispose of, that's his problem.

not a problem to most garages as they have oil burner heaters to burn it off, and a press to squash the oil filters.

garages without that facility have containers to fill so that they can be collected for dipsosal.

i specify oil grade and make valvoline usually, castrol if i'm feeling generous to my car. i buy either FRAM or K&N oil filters.

every six months will fuel treatment, change the fuel filter every 12-18 months.
  • I once asked a garage what oil they used and the mechanic said "I don't know - it just comes out of a big drum over there" I then asked how he knew it was suitable for my car and he said they put the same oil in all petrol fuelled cars and they have had no problems. I then went away and returned with my own oil so knew what was going in there.

I suspect many other garages are in the same position - they just buy a massive drum of oil wholesale but they don't really know whats in there and that's why they don't tell you.
