Hi.

I am looking to purchase a new tablet. I would like one with good battery life (over 5 hrs would be good while surfing the net), i would be willing if it has a detachable battery to purchase a second one if it achieves this, also with the option to attach a dongle so i can access the internet while i am out and about. My budget is £150- £200. Would also like a 10.2 screen.

Any help is appreciated.

*Edit*

This looks ok.

Would a three dongle work with this do you think..? And also what if i brought an external battery pack would that work..?

If you can't afford an iPad, then why not get a netbook?
That gum you like is coming back in style.

The ad says it supports 3G dongles so you'd have a valid claim if it didn't but returning to Hong Kong may be difficult.

It doesn't say if the screen is resistive (poor) or capacitive so figure on resistive which gives poor control.

You may get stiffed for import duty VAT and handling charges as it comes from outside the EU (I'd take a guess at that coming to maybe £40 - £50). That will take the gloss off any savings.

The battery life is well below your stated needs and there is no suggestion in the ad which I can see that you can easily use a backup battery (I suspect you can't)

To be perfectly honest don't bother at that price point. You'll be probably be disappointed if you expect anything like the slickness of Apple.

Most tablets at this price point have resistive screens so not as sensative as an conductive screen (as seen on the more expensive tablets) and to be honest you'll have very limited upgrade abilities, many of these chinese firms clone something then move on not going back to the prior ones.

It may or may not run flash depending exactly what processor is on it, not a killer but an annoyance.

Go into Maplins they do simialr ones and give them a try. As suggested a netbook may be better for you depending on how you use it. If you need a keyboard at all (form filling/email) the onscrene keyboards can be annoying as they take up the screen and you end up scrolling around a lot..

The Advent Vega meets your specs apart from the price - £249 and of course the original iPad is now £329.

They sell them in PC World so you could try before you buy. I've read that the viewing angles are poor. You may be able to get a little off somewhere else or maybe Quidco/TopCashBack if you order through them online and collect at store.

You have to ask yourself if buying something blind for £150 (with the risk of it being £200 if HMRC get their share) that may be garbage with no chance of return is a sensible gamble against something you can try out and take back if it fails costing £100 more.

The iPad is the best selling tablet for more reasons than posing.

    Hi

Yeah i do understand that totally hence my posting on here. I just want something small with good battery life that i can connect to the internet when i am in the town centre handing out leaflets promoting my new website. I thought if i had a tab to hand i could actually show people the site while i am chatting to them, might make more of an impact and also i can show people how to navigate it.

That advent vega looks promising. Bit of a high price point for me though.

It sounds like a tablet is what you need for that and the resistive screen probably wouldn't matter.

If you really don't want to pay the extra £100 or so then as mentioned above Maplin sell cheap Chinese tablets so you can take a look first. Be very very wary of Maplin pricing though - they are often a lot dearer than fleabay even with their "specials" and it is just the same imported chinese tat.

I personally wouldn't buy anything direct from HK on eBay costing more than £10 or so.
