Subsidence cover - HELP!

I posted this in the Home Insurance thread but I think it got lost:
There was subsidence 20 years before we bought the house (so over 28 years ago) - house was underpinned (due to tree roots - said tree was uprooted). We werent aware of this when we bought the house and when we did discover it, the vendor denied all knowledge (he was selling on the property as the inheritance from his deceased aunt). When I tried to find cheaper house insurance all searches came back saying unquotable due to the subsidence. Anyone know of any companies which will quote us having had subsidence? Its making me worry that our current insurance has not taken onboard the previous subsidence (we did tell them - it was an over the phone renewal and the bloke said it had been taken into account). Any advice welcome

Some companies are only interested in subsidence within a certain number of years. Others want to know about anything that has ever occurred.
If you are getting quotes online, check the assumptions questions.
You might need to contact insurers directly and advise them of the circumstances to obtain a quote.
As regards to your current insurer, if you have disclosed this issue and they have agreed to cover then you should not have a problem (but for the future it's always worth noting the time/date of any conversations and the full name of who you have spoken to.0 -
