Hyaluronic acid products

As Glowgirl says, hyaluronic acid is a humectant, and it does work pretty well. But glycerin works pretty well too and is a fraction of the price. I don't think you can get any better results with hyaluronic acid than you can with glycerin.
With regards to the greasy feel of glycerin that Glowgirl reports, I think that must have been a very high level of glycerin. It doesn't make formulations greasy at normal use levels. There is a lot more detail on my blog.

Thank you, I had a quick look at your blog, it looks interesting, I'll read it more thoroughly when I get a sec, is there a particular product with glycerin for the face you would recommend? bearing in mind that mineral oil in larger quantities causes a reaction with my skin:)Thank you for this site MartinThe time for change has comeGood luck for the future0 -

Neutrogena Norwegian Formula has a very high glycerin content. It works wonders on some people and does nothing at all for others. Virtually every skin product on the market has glycerin in it, but usually at a fairly low level because for most people that is the optimum.Student of the science of beauty0 -

Now the reason I'm trying this is because I have spinal problems due to an accident, and a few months ago, I could hardly move my left arm at all. I've now got a lot more movement in it and it's not quite so painful, BUT.. I'm also having physio and it might well have improved with time anyway.
So, I can't definitively say that the hyaluronic acid is helping, but I'm a bit scared of stopping in case it IS helping!
This stuff is expensive, like a pound a day (it comes as 30 sachets that you mix with water) so I think I'll start taking it every other day soon.
As to my skin, I haven't noticed any difference at all, but I've got good skin anyway (it does get dry with the central heating at this time of year and that hasn't changed)
Hi Violet, sorry to read about your accident and hope you're on the mend. I just wondered if I might be able to get your advice. I have a degenerative disc and following exhaustive research it would seem that SynoVital is good for my issue. I've been taking it for a couple of weeks now but haven't actually noticed any difference. All my joints(not just my back) still feel stiff. How long does it take for the effects to kick in? Also should I be taking it with another supplement like vitamin C? I read that it doesn't matter if you take it on a full or empty stomach, it still gets absorbed. Just wondering the best time to take it, morning or evening? Also if I was to increase the dose two sachets per day then would that increase the effect? Any help or advice greatly appreciated. Thanks0 -
Hi Hertsman, sorry I only just noticed your post!
I actually stopped taking the syno-vital ages ago. I did use it for around 3 months, but as I wasn't sure if it was helping at all (and it's quite expensive) I stopped buying it.
I continued with physio and my arm/shoulder did continue to improve (though still not quite back to normal!)
On the other hand, some people really feel it makes a difference, so I do think it's worth a try.
I was taking one sachet a day, in the morning, on an empty stomach. I do take other vitamins/supplements, including vitamin C, but about an hour afterwards with breakfast.
I don't know about taking two sachets at once. I'd be inclined not to, because as far as I remember, it just says "one sachet a day" on the box (unlike some vitamins for example that might say "three to six capsules a day" or something like that)
I do hope it works for you anyway!0
