  • We are all missing something (including proper info. from them).
There is no record of this debt with us.
I will write (again) to the debt company before the hearing.

Definitely. Would be rather embarrassing to get into court without doing research and find out it is yours.

The hearing is coming up so there is the exchange of information.

We received some more details on the debt. As suspected it is this old catalogue. The date is just under the 6 years allowed (approx 5yrs 10mth) We have been sent a "statement" which they state is made up from information from their client. The good thing is it clearly shows the goods were paid for (000's paid off), however, they have added a fee for insurance and fees - no idea what this insurance is which left money owing.
? Can they add these items after the balance of good received was paid
? Not sure of their rights in buying a debt after the goods have been paid

What you have typed does not make sense.

What is this insurance? Is it some sort of payment protection insurance? If so, that can be reclaimed.

At the time that the insurance was added, was there any debt outstanding for items from the catalogue?

I strongly recommend that you ring National Debtline and talk over the documents that you have now received with them, as it is much easier than doing this on-line.

There is no recollection of these charges for insurance and the statement agrees the goods and interest were paid. Anyway as suggested I will try the National Debt people

    Thanks
