CeX - Blu Ray DVDs in normal cases

Went out to buy Angels & Demons on DVD today, I've just sat down with a cold cider to watch it and found that the Xbox won't pick the CD up. Tried it in the laptop with no luck, looked at the CD to find it's a Blu Ray DVD which was put into a normal DVD case.

Before anyone snipes, the DVD wasn't in the box until I went to buy it and I didn't think to check at the till because you'd think that the sales assistant would put the right flaming CD in the case.

Anyway, just a warning out there for anyone who uses CeX for DVD purchases. Obviously, it could be just a simple mistake, but an annoying one all the same.

well I wish that happened to me! i would have been irritated if it was the other way round, but getting a blu-ray when you thought you were getting an ordinary dvd has got to be a bonus.

i buy from them online, the irritating thing is when i order a dvd and get sent a cd of the same name, it has happened quite a few times, and returning stuff to them is just not worth the hassle. mostly good buying experiences though.

Well I wouldn't mind if I had a Blu Ray player to play it on ;-) But tbh, I've never had a terrible experience of CeX either, I send my old phones to them for more money that Envirofone and Mazuma offer.

It's just something I'm gonna be extra careful with in future now, especially when buying second hand DVDs.
  • I would assume this is a complete mistake on their part as the Blueray would probably be sold for more than a DVD, and they are easy to mix up.

Serves you right for having an xbox instead of a ps3. ;)
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.

When I used to work at CEX, this did happen very occasionally.

A lot of the time, we didn't have much time to file away the discs and someone who was trying to work too fast kept putting the disc in the wrong locations (bluray in dvd, xbox in ps3 etc). 99% of the time we picked up the error at the till and got the correct disc for the customer.

The worst filing I ever saw, was when someone put a DVD disc in the Nintendo DS section :rotfl:
  • its probably a good thing you didnt get to watch it angels and demons...

i watched it recently with my partner, gary. tom hanks is not as attractive as he once was and we found it very off putting.
