Cold radiator problem?

perc

Hi I have a problem with one radiator where even though it is fully open it is cold. I have let the air out and it half filled with warm water and then went fully cold again....any ideas anyone?
Thanks
Thanks

do you have a thermostate valve if so the pin in the valve could be stuck0

Shut all the other radiators off but leave the cold one on.
Then put the heating on. It should clear it..I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0 -
Two things perc.
The control valve actually is the valve that lets water Out of the radiator. Leaving it on flat out means water just goes straight through it.
I doubt the rads blocked as Central Heating Water is at a fair amount of pressure! You would need to gum the entire thing up to block it. If this is the case youll prob need a new rad anyway!!! I doubt it though very much!!!
I think you might also need to bleed the radiator too again because it takes bloody ages to let all the air out!!! Then turn the radiator knob a little bit off (Maybe 2 or three turns) or if its a thermostatic one then put it at number 3. Hopefully thats your rad sorted.
By the way, if one rad is in need of bleeding then others in your house probably need bleeding too. So try doing all of them once you get the hang of it... You might be suprised the new heat you'll find coming from your old rads (-:
If you manage to blow up your house il admit no liability!!! lol (-;0 -
Water when it is pumped will take the line of least resistance. If it is easier to go through a particular radiator or circuit, it will.
The problem very often with a radiator that will not, or is slow to warm up is that the hottest radiators are the easier way for the water to go.
Try shutting off the other radiators and see. If it does warm up, the system needs ballancing.I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0 -

We've been advised to do this before....and it worked.
We were also told to ramp the termostat to the highest whilst we were doing it and leave it there for a hour if possible.0 -

What you need to do is. Make sure that both valves on the cold radiator are fully open.
Then find the hottest rad or the one that warms up first and close the ballancing valve right down, then open it about one half to a full turn.
It is a matter of trial and error. It is usualy the hottest rad that is robbing the cold one.
But seeing that it is your time and not money it is worth a tryI used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0
