How to block my number?

I have a part time job and am paid a couple of hours to do work from home. Sometimes I really need to ring a customer but I don't want them knowing my home number. How do I ring them without them being able to access that?
I've asked a few friends but very few of them have a landline any more.
Anyone know?

Yes. Dial 141 first.
Dan.We used to to shop at Tesco. But then we saw the light.0 -
If you use BT just dial 141 before the number.0

If you have a BT landline, dial 141 before the phone number you're calling. Not sure if this works for other providers though.

Just done it! Thanks Dan. Really helpful.0

Do remember, many people (who have display equipment) will either block or refuse to answer calls that have their number withheld, in the belief it will be a sales call (and it looks like in your case they'll be right!).0
