Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has heard of Allergic reactions to Protect and Perfect Beauty serum ?

I have a tube that I started using end of last year. I then decided that I would save until A few weeks before my wedding so I look my best:)

Well I started using it a few days ago and I have come out in a rash all over my cheeks. It looks sort of like prickly heat , it is raised but not really itchy if that makes sense. I was using Nivea Q10 with no problems. When I read the box of the Protect, it says apply your moisturizer over the top, which I did. Last time I used it I didn't realise that you should do that so I didn't !

So with just over 4 weeks until we go to Florida to get married I have a rash all over my face !

Any Ideas please.. ?

I'm allergic to it. I bought it just before all the hype kicked off and was dying to use it. It was a couple of years ago now but I remember I had to stop using it after a few days as my cheeks and jawline became really, really itchy and red which is my version of an allergic reaction to products. It calmed down a few days after stopping use.

Other things that help are antihistamines after washing the last lot off, not washing your face for a few days (gross but helps).
I'll have some cheese please, bob.

Email Boots and explain. When this happened to me with a Time Delay eye cream, they then sent me a user questionnaire by email.

Sure things will settle down before the wedding. Have a lovely time!

Not much good to you on the prewedding stuff but I know Boots have been good about refunding me on items when I suffered an allergic reaction. Might be worth a try even without a receipt since P&P are a boots brand.

I don't have allergic reactions, but that stuff does give me spots. It may well be a reaction so take some anti-histamines and ask the pharmacist for advice. I presume you didn't have a reaction when you used it before? I just wonder whether it might have gone off since you last used it. Have you had the tube in a warm place etc? I put on some cream last week that I had found at the bottom of a bag I hadn't use for a while. When I put it on I started itching (it was fine when I used to use it). But, when I smelt the cream it had obviously gone off.

I get spots too, like whiteheads but deep deep down in my skin and they hurt like mad- I can't pick at them or steam them out they are that deep. They take about a week to grow and grow (and become more and more painful) then they rise to the surface and can be picked at. I think its something to do with the pores being clogged, either way it happens with any of the No.7 products I have tried and also many others. I think its one of the man-made ingr. they have and am not 100% which as there seem to be the same sorts of things in many of the brands which do this to my skin.

I would suggest using a more natural product if this happens to you as this is what seems to work for me, but OP your reaction seems different to mine and does sound like an allergic reaction, so I'd stop straight away and after speaking to Boots, see if you can find out which ingredient did this to you so you know what to avoid next time or even state on medical forms if required, the last thing you want when being treated in hospital for example is to have a reaction to a product they use!

i had similar rash after just two or three applications, i took product back to boots and got a full refund though the sales person said i was the only person she knew of to have a reaction
  • Funny you should post this - I have been suffering allergy symptoms for the past few months, much like hay fever symptoms. Red sore swollen itchy watering eyes, sneezing, runny nose etc. I was thinking I had developed a dust allergy but thinking about it I started to use P&P about the time the symptoms appeared. Not sure of a face cream can cause this sort of reaction but I may try stopping using it to see what happens as I am currently taking antihistamines daily as the symptoms are so bad.

Would appear it is this then.

I don't have the receipt any more , will they still refund me ?

I am going to go to GP next week as I need it gone !

Isn't it just typical when I was trying to look better for my wedding !

    Thanks Everyone

For the last couple of months Ive had really puffy eyelids, Sometimes they swell up so much I cannot see out of them!
I have been to my gp numerous times.
I was told I could have conjunctivitus by NHS direct, was given steroid drops for IN my eye the first time I went to see my gp, then was told it could be blepharitus, then dermititis/eczema and was given a hydrocortisone cream and then told it was an allergy but they couldnt tell me what caused it or if it would happen again .
I feel like I am not getting anywhere with my gp.
I am getting married too in 6 weeks and I am feeling so self conscious I just want to cry, which just makes it puff up worse!
I havent been using the p&p cream but I was using no7 products which is boots own brand, so I am wondering if thats whats causing my allergic reactions aswel.
This week ive tried the boots natural range make up , just the mascara, and so far theres been a couple of times it has been a tad itchy but nothing major.Im too scared to try anything else.:(

If your trying a new product and are worried, do a patch test. Personally I'd try over a week rather then just one day as it takes a good week for any symptoms to show on my skin.

Just apply a patch of the product somewhere you or someone else can monitor such as the inside of your elbow (for body products) or behind the ear or side of your face/neck: where you can see but wont cause you hell if a reaction does break out.
