Tesco -sadly not praise

To cut a long story short......I purchased a washing machine from tesco direct, after 14months it broke. I had someone out to look at it and phoned tesco shortly after. They agreed (after a bit of banter) to send me an "over 12months form" which i had to fill in and return. It took more than two weeks for the form to arrive, i rang tesco after 10days and was told it can take up to two weeks, i rang after two weeks and was told i had never bought a washing machine from tesco, there was no record of me, my address, my request for the over 12 months form or anything. I asked to speak to a manager and was put through to the mobile phone department.....funny! A few days later the form arrived. I filled it in and posted it straight back.
That was four weeks ago. In the meantime i have had the machine fixed. On monday i phoned tesco to A)check they had received the form
tell them i had had the machine fixed as when i posted the form back it was still in its broken state and C) ask what they planned to do - if anything. I was told no-one from that department was available as i had phoned in the evening, phone back tomorrow. I phoned on tuesday and was told the man dealing with my case was on the phone and he would ring me back....he didnt. I phoned on wednesday and was told my issue would be escalated to a supervisor and they would ring me back...they didnt. I phoned on thursday and was told the man who had been emailed on tuesday was not answering his phone and an email would be sent to him and also to the manager of the person i was speaking to so that another manager was involved asking him to phone me as a matter of urgency...guess what?! HE DIDNT!!!
I am sick to death of phoning tesco, might as well bang my head against a brick wall. It is a shame because when dealing with tesco i have spoken to a few individuals who clearly desire to give great customer service but feel powerless, then there are others, like the american woman on the white goods helpline that clearly couldnt give a toss!
