Cordyline plant - is it dead?
I've got a couple of Cordyline plants. Due to not wrapping them up in the winter the heavy snow either snap the leaves(?) or killed them (dried out).
I have cut all the leaves off to leave just the trunk of the plant. Will new leaves grow, or is the plant now dead?
Thanks

This would be better in the gardening board, but many cordylines and similar plants have had a tough winter. The general advice is that they often do resprout from lower down the plant. If nothing by end of April, you may not be in luck - but at that stage, try chopping it down to quite a low level to see if you can stimulate it to sprout more leaves.0

I had what I think is a Cordyline and in the winter of 2010 it apparently died. I cleared all the dead leaves and left the stump in the ground. I notice that it appears to be growing again. So it might be worth while leaving the stump for a while to see if it does make an effort.I can afford anything that I want.

You alerted me to the fact that there was a gardening section to the forum, and that it would be better to post this question there.
If you check the time of the original post you will note that I posted on the gardening section after you alerted me.

Fair enough, I didn't check the times. But you also didn't say you'd posted elsewhere.0

It might come back yet, give it time, if it hasn't shown any sign of recovery by Easter then it has probably been quite badly damaged inside.
Cut the stem back by about halfway then leave it again for a few months. One of ours is about 15 feet tall so we can only wait and see.
If it comes back I'll let you know, the other one 'mother plant's baby' is the same but I'll give it chance to recover.

What are you on about?
I didn't know there was a gardening section, you alerted me to it. So I posted in the correct part of the forum, thinking I'd get more replies.

They are only a couple of feet high. I'm re-arranging things in the borders, so I was just wondering whether to give them time to re-grow.
My parents had a 15 footer in their front garden. They stripped all the dead leaves of it. They thought it looked dead so decided to cut it down. They said it was alive/green inside.

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere (please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies.
