Maximise your returns, whatever the card.

I have had a look and cannot see this elsewhere but please merge if i am mistaken.:money:

We all use cashback or reward credit cards but i find it difficult looking for utility companies that will let me pay my bill via a SO or DD from my Credit Card, therefore missing some regular payment cashback opportunities.

This thread is for users to post examples of companies that they find accept a credit card (insert type) for auto payments and if there is a cost. it may help next time we are looking to switch utility providers.

My first example will be posted next.

  • So Sky TV.

Sky would accept an AMEX or Mastercard for DD payment. there was a 50p charge monthly so that needs to be weighed up against any cashback or incentive you receive.

  • 3 Mobile and Broadband.

They accept Mastercard for DD with no charge. easy collection opportunity there.

you can't set up a DD to pay bill on a credit card

the sort of equivalent is a CPA (continuos payment authority); however be very aware that you are NOT protected by the DD guarentee and YOU can't cancel it yourself , you have to get the retailer to do it.

Personally I wouldn't touch CPAs with a barge pole
  • Not sure where the regulations sit with this however when i left Sky i terminated my DD (or CPA if thats the correct term in this case) without any drama. They sent my final bill through the post which i paid online separately.

The point of this thread is not really a discussion on the pros and cons of using a card, its for those of us that choose to, where are the best firms that support this form of money saving opportunity. Perhaps im the only person who maximises returns in this way.
