Hi all,
My stupid brain hates throwing things away and also hates paper. My desk is just littered with disorganised letters and crap.
I want something efficient and cheap so that I can just read letters, scan & keep a digital copy and then chuck them away.
That way I don't have all this paper lying around yet I still get to keep it at the same time. Does anyone have a suggestion on the best and most efficient product for doing this? I don't want to spend too much, probably no more than £150.
Cheers in advance.

How about a cheap and cheerful flatbed USB scanner for about £20?

Hey Hey

I'm also after a scanner as our desktop PC refuses to detect or accept it's there.
Is this above scanner a decent model - resolution is only 600 x 1200 though there is interpolated res too not sure what that means
Also it doesn't say it's USB 2.0
Is there a way to check it's Vista compatible at all?
Cheers :beer:0 -
Hi crabman
I bought one of this model second-hand off ebay.
It's great for general purpose use, such as documents. Hence the 'cheap and cheerful'.
The scanning resolution is 600dpi x 1200dpi, but bear in mind that, when printing text, mostly you will only have your printer probably set at 360dpi or 720dpi.
The more expensive scanners have 4800dpi x 9600dpi, so these would be the ones to use for serious scanning/printing of photos.
I've used my scanner with Windows 98SE and USB 1.
I think that even if the scanner is not type USB 2 it will still work from a USB 2 port, but just not take full advantage.
I don't know about the Vista compatibility thing.

Cheers  I'll order this later today for delivery tomorrow expensive I know but still cheaper than PC World :T (and 1.5% cashback too). Unless I find a cheaper way to get it delivered :wall:0
