Garage Roof - Felt or Rubber

I desperately need my garage roof replacing, however I'm unsure whether to go for felt or rubber and naturally this also depends on price.
My garage is approx 30m2 (square metres) and is felt at the moment.
I had a company call round today and quoted me for a rubber roof (same as the permaseal stuff with firestone products with lengthy guarantee etc...) and to replace as many boards as necessary ( probably around 3or 4) for £1800.
I don't know if this is a reasonable price or not and would welcome any thoughts, experiences or advice.
Oh, the price from the company started off at double that and only after haggling did he come down to that and guaranteeing that the price wouldn't increase at any stage.
Thanks

EPDM is about the same price as felt but you can get it in a single piece which avoids seams. It is also stuck down rather than needing torching on.
Materials (at retail) for a roof your size including allowance for replacement of elements of deck if required will be between £800 and £900 if you were DIYing so £1,800 is prolly OK for contracting. £ 3,600 is outrageous.

the fact that he started off with 3600 quid, and then came down, smacks of everest dg selling methods.
go and get some more quotes.
i certainly wouldnt be using him.Get some gorm.0 -
Neither would I. As far as I'm concerned the first price has to be the best price. Anybody who comes down in price is just trying it on to start with, in my opinion.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
Have you considered fibreglass ? It's more expensive but it's supposed to last longerKeep calm and carry on0

Thanks for the replies... I'm definitely trying to keep the price down. I think I'll get another couple of quotes and see if they can beat the £1800.... as at least it comes with a guarantee in case anything goes wrong. If I tried it myself I know it would look messy and probably takes three or even four times longer than the professionals.
Not too keen on fibreglass, mainly because it's more expensive.... my aim is to try and get under £1500 and if possible even closer to the £1000 mark.0 -
Just looking at this myself, mine is 36m2 currently a felt roof and its in dire condition. After much thought i am going the EPDM route as it can be replaced with a single sheet of rubber bonded to the boards.
Cost for a 6m x 6m membrane £264 delivered and the adhesive is circa £50.
Battens are needed to secure the edges but they are not expensive. It should be doable diy for less than £600
