Posessions at girlfriend's flat

I have a question relating to home contents insurance.

I'm currently living with my mum while trying to buy my first home, however I have a lot of expensive electronics (TV, hi-fi, SLR camera etc) in my girlfriend's flat as there was simply no room to move them to my mum's... plus I stay at her flat two or three nights a week so it's nice having the stuff there and usable instead of having to put it into storage.

My GF rents the flat and she does have home contents insurance arranged via the letting agency, but I am trying to figure out if my stuff is actually covered by it. What should I look for in her home insurance docs?

Assuming hers doesn't cover it, is there any way to get cover for all these things without me 'officially' moving in with her?

You definitely wont be covered on your girlfriends insurance if your mum's is regarded as your main residence.

Might be covered under your mum's policy under temporary removal but there is restrictions on cover under this section.

Yes, read her policy documents, or get her to ring her insurers.

Check your mum's contents policy as well. It may cover you for items temporarily removed to another property, although I would imagine that the cover might only be very basic.

Dont think you can get accidental damage cover under temp removal so you would be insured for for theft, burst pipe, fire, etc just the standard cover.
