Good point :D What I meant was putting a short note explaining that p&p was the actual cost of the postage and a jiffy bag and that no profit was made. Is that too much info for the average buyer?

Yes. Even then they'll complain. Just put the amount.

You mention giving some to charity. You can only say that if you use the ebay system to have the amount taken automatically from the proceeds, there is a tick box when you list and if the charity is not listed that you wish to support you can request it be added.

You cannot just say in the text of your auction that you will be giving x% to charity as you have no way of backng that up and it can look a bit odd.

Rather than listing other items individually you might like to put in one of those scrolling bars that show your other items. I use the free version of the one provided by Supreme auction although I found it a bit hard to initially setup.

  • Soolin - Thanks, I'm a long-time lurker of this board and you are the ebay Queen so value your opinion on the chairity side of things. The aim is for a decent % of profits to be donated to charity but as you say buyers will have no way of verifying this so on reflection I won't mention it.

Pembroke - thank you, I've seen those on other listings and they look very professional. Thanks so much for the link :)

I will also be donating a percentage of profits to a charity which will be mentioned in each listing.

As a buyer, the fact that a seller is donating to a charity would not influence me to buy from them at all. Not a jot. In fact, such blatant
philanthropic actions might actually put me off. I really dislike people that do good and give to charity - then shout it from the rooftops.

Hi viktory - as per my post directly above yours I have now decided that I won't mention the charity aspect as the buyer can't verify the donation themselves. In reality it would actually be the customer that donates to the charity as it's a % of the profits from selling the item to them that enables the money to be donated.

Anyway, I'm going to be keeping the 'blatant philanthropic actions' to myself so if you ever come across my listing hopefully it won't put you off ;)
