Buying New Build - PX Advice

Hi Folks
Buying a new build and using the part exchange incentive - the valuers/surveyor will be coming out next week to value our property but the question I have is how much leeway do these builders have in terms of offering extras over and above the PX incentive.
They make out that if you take PX then there is nothing else on offer but this sounds like a sales ploy to me....
Has anyone any experience of this type of scenario - I just want to see how far I can push it.

we bought a new build and part exchanged our old property, the value that we got for our old house was probably £5k less than we would have liked but we did negotiate carpets throughout and the garden turfed0

Have you thought about getting some estate agents in so you have some alternative quotes? That way when the builder quotes at least you know if your happy with it in comparison.0
