Refused a Santander Credit Card 1st time in my life

I have just been refused a Santander Credit card.

I applied to shift over a balance from another card to take advantage of their long o% interest rate although They were not aware of how much I wanted to shift because the application did not ask this question.

I earn £35k per year and have an outstanding credit rating, no missed or late payments ever in my life and have had no problems with any kind of credit.

After mortgage and bills I still have over £1200 per month spare and am frankly shocked that I have been refused.

I'm on the electoral register, have checked my credit files with experian & Equifax etc and they are all A1.

There is apparently an opportunity to appeal this decision with Santander but there is no reference as to what grounds you would appeal. I have 30 days to do this.

Has anyone any suggestions as to what I should do? Perhaps if I sent a full budget sheet along with proof of my income and copy of my Equifax credit file with an appeal?

Consider it a lucky escape, and apply for a Halifax Clarity card instead!

    please explain.

the Halifax card is at 12.9% interest. I'm paying 0% interest on the balance and want to transfer it to another 0% for x months deal.

Do you mean that Santander are a bad company?

Isn't it stupid to apply for another card when I have just been rejected?

If you have such a large disposable income, why do you need a card at all?

Yenool, I don't really need one to be honest. The balance that is left over is the holiday that I paid for last year. I could pay this balance but I just wanted to spread it over a longer period to be honest.

Its not a large balance either about £800 and am looking to pay off £100 a month

No it isn't. The Halifax clarity card is 12.9% See HERE

The Plus card is 15 months 0% HERE is this what you mean?

Would it be detrimental to me to apply for another card despite having been refused for this?

Do Santander often refuse people who are easily able to pay? Perhaps not enough money in it for them? (I know that any company can do this)

    Thanks for the replies everyone.

Sorry I thought you'd applied for the zero card hence my clarity card recommendation, can't really think of any other Santander card worth applying for anyway, but ANY other 0% balance transfer card is better than having a Santander card, they are a nightmare on a good day!
